Intro Day – a One-Day Introduction to Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a theory of mind and a model of therapy based on the principle that we are made of a ‘family’ or ecosystem of internal parts which each have theirunique roles, beliefs, thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This one-day introduction will give you:

  • A clear overview of IFS theory

  • Experiential opportunities putting IFS into practice

  • Witnessing a demonstration of the model

  • Getting to know your own inner system

Requirements:

Open to therapists and counsellors who are currently working and have at least 2 years post training experience.

  • KC Integrative Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapist

“Helen has been instrumental in supporting my transition into working with IFS with my clients. Her expertise as an IFS consultant, alongside her depth of experience as a psychotherapist particularly with adolescents — has been invaluable. Her thoughtful approach, wisdom, and years of practice have steadied me as I navigated this shift in my clinical work. She has a remarkable ability to offer structure and clear guidance, while also creating the space for me to find my own way as a practitioner. I feel in very safe hands with Helen, especially when working with young people from challenging backgrounds, where safeguarding issues can arise frequently. Her calm presence, clinical insight, and grounded judgement give me confidence in even the most complex situations.”

  • KB Counsellor

“I found Helen to be wise, kind, supportive and safe. As a supervisor to someone who is very new to IFS, I found the way which she helped me identify, name and support my own parts in difficult client situations, absolutely transformative. Whilst at the same time helping me to see my clients through the IFS lens rather than the diagnostic way I had learnt through previous trainings”

  • AG Psychotherapist

“I have known Helen for some years, both in the role of supervisor and being part of a small group she runs. Helen has great depth both personally and in her work. Through her presence she is a safe and holding container for the work. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.”

  • PM Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

“As a child and adolescent psychiatrist and IFS therapist, it has been brilliant that Helen has prior experience working with children, families, parents, risk and the care system. She provides a very calm,  flexible and containing presence;  her self energy helps me reflect on my own system and role without judgement. Helen frequently provides nuggets of wisdom and I am learning so much from her. “

  • GT Integrative Play and Creative Arts Therapist

“With genuine honesty, I can say that Helen has been a true anchor in my work as an Integrative Play and Creative Arts Therapist supporting children and adolescents in a special education setting.

Helen meets me with a deeply non‑judgemental presence, and through using IFS as a guiding map, she compassionately supports me to work meaningfully with my own parts that naturally arise in therapy. This process has been profoundly impactful, enabling me to show up with greater presence, and self‑leadership for my clients.

Each time we meet, I leave feeling more resourced, grounded, and supported as I continue to navigate and reflect upon my practice.”

  • SG IFS therapist and psychiatrist

“Helen is a very thoughtful, knowledgeable and perceptive supervisor who has provided me with invaluable support through the certification process and in deepening my understanding of IFS clinical work.”
